Join us for a celebration of the Independent Yoga Network. This regional day will showcase both the local senior IYN teachers, and also share more information about their work with IYN chair Ellen Lee joining us. The IYN operates as a not-for-profit organisation, and all funds raised on the day will support furthering their work.
The Independent Yoga Network is an organisation for Yoga Teachers and Teacher Training Schools. As well as offering support to its members, it represents them in any forum that is likely to impact on the future of Yoga, and always with a view to keeping Yoga free and independent. Find out more about the IYN here.
Cost for the day: £40, or £35 for IYN members.

WORKSHOP 1: Breath, Bandha & Awareness. With John 'Mac' McEvoy.
Mac has been practicing yoga since 1995, studying intensively with a number of leading teachers including Derek Ireland, John Scott, Shandor Remete, Ramesh Balsekar and since 2000, Godfrey Devereux. He has been teaching since the start of 2004 and is a senior teacher of Godfrey's Dynamic Yoga method. He regularly attends intensive and extended workshops with Godfrey having spent well over 1000 hours with him. Mac focuses on using Godfreys Dynamic Method to bring students of all levels and ability, and from all disciplines, rapidly to a deepened awareness of their inner nature.
In this class we will look first at the relationship between the breath, the bandhas and the lengthening of the spine, even just a little, can be delightful, enhancing the juicy feelings of being alive.
Then, using this, hopefully heightened sensitivity we will begin to explore more deeply how simply feeling the sensations of breathing can open the heart and bring the mind back from its wanderings to its true home as awareness.
WORKSHOP 2: The Core, An Expanded Concept. With Chris Jackson
Chris was first drawn to the IYN because of their simple aim to regulate yoga on its own terms and principles, and is looking forward greatly to sharing their aims with the community at YogaTherapies.
This second workshop will build on the principles introduced in Mac's morning session, and will expand to explore the energetic and myofascial pathways in which emotional and physical imbalances manifest. Working both with the bandha, and a warming sequences of twisting, we will experience what it means to allow your core expression to radiate out to edges of your body, what it means to work with integrity in your practice, and begin the steady process of returning the whole system to balance. We will end with an extended relaxation and guided journey.
