To mark the International Day of Peace in conjunction with the Global Mala Initiative inspired by Shiva Rea, Yogamatters is inviting you to its first Yoga Mala - and it’s here in the North East!
The Yogamatters North East Yoga Mala will take place on Saturday 23rd September from 10am-1pm at Gateshead International Stadium.
The event will open with a collective chant, followed by a guided meditation that will continue into a moving meditation of 108 sun salutations. Four local yoga teachers are each leading a set of 27 sun salutations, with alternatives at every stage for students of all abilities. There will be time to relax in savasana and celebrate your achievement (with a small gift from Yogamatters!) before heading home.
With a real sense of achievement and the joy that comes from practising yoga together,
this is an event that we are sure you will not want to miss!
As one of the largest yoga events in the region, the Yogamatters North East Yoga Mala will bring 200 yoga teachers and students from across the North East together in a collective act of yoga, meditation and service.
We would love to see you, your students and your fellow yogis there.
Registration costs just £5 (to cover costs) and then donations will be taken on the day for the Prison Phoenix Trust, encouraging prisoners across the UK in their spiritual lives through the practices of yoga and meditation, working with silence and breath.
Sponsor forms are available and there will be a gift of gratitude for everyone who raises more than £100 for this fantastic cause.
