Lunchtime meditations are our opportunity to rest and reflect, to take time out and reset.
The meditations are guided by a Kadampa Buddhist monk who has been practising Buddhist meditation for 20 years and who has dedicated his life to teach the people of the North East at Compassion Kadampa Buddhist Centre in South Gosforth.
Modern Buddhism is the practice of integrating wisdom and mediation into our busy lives in this modern world. The recognition that our happiness depends upon our mind and not on our external conditions liberates us from daily suffering and frustration.
Everybody is welcome.
Anyone can learn to train their mind and there is no need to be physically fit to do this.
Sessions are run simply, with meditations performed either sat in a chair or on a floor cushion for the half hour session.
The Compassion Centre is run on donations. These sessions require no booking and a suggested donation of £3 is requested by the Compassion Centre for this class - £1 of this donation will go towards covering the costs associated with using the Den.
