Formentera is a special kind of sanctuary.
Accessible only by boat, this unspoiled and unchanging utopia is the perfect environment for an immersive experience.
Our villa is tucked away, amidst the swaves of pine, juniper and fig covered countryside all protected as part of a World Heritage site. We are a stones throw from the 8km long Migjorn coastline; a succession of coves and beaches separated by rocky outcrops, each with its own distinctive character and appeal. The Ses Salines Natural Park protects the beds of Posidonia seagrass, one of the most ancient organisms still living today, that filter the water offshore leaving it crystalline and a pure beautiful blue.
And perhaps, most special to us, it was on Formentera that Chris completed writing the Yomala, Yoga & Vinyasa Therapeutics 200hr training over 6 years ago. It only seemed fit then, that our first immersion training experience should be led here on this magical island where it all began!
At the core of our asana practice is the spinal column; reflexive, unique. Interwoven with the deepest levels of our systems functioning and inseparable from the rhythmic pulse of the breath.
This module will focus on advanced exploration of the spine and lumbosacral complex; their anatomy and function as structures that both stabilise and drive movement and momentum and how a deeper understanding of the mechanics of the bandha as physical and energetic constructs can drive liberation in our practice.
Our study of the physical spine, will be complemented by a deep focus on the energetical axial column, or sushumna, and the primal energy centres that lay along it (Bindu). Somatic and subtle energy pranayama and meditation techniques will accompany daily space for reflection, introspection and sharing.
A traditional Formentera style house peacefully located in a pine wood setting just 100 metres from Migjorn beach. Air conditioned. Swimming Pool.
