The word “Seva” is a Sanskrit word often associated with the facet of yoga meaning “service.” However, it is more than just a simple desire to help others. As Swami Niranjan explains it, “seva” is actually composed of two words, “saha,” which means “with that,” and “eva,” which means “too.” Taken as a whole, the word “seva” means “together with” and describes the actions that seek collective uplifting through the understanding of the needs of others and are based on togetherness and integration. It is an expression of compassion for others and a genuine desire to uplift those around you.

Charity Of The Year: Shelter

Each year at YT we will be running a series of dedicated yoga fundraisers to supports the efforts of local charities. All fundraising events will be free to book here and donations will be taken in cash on the day. This year we are looking forward to working with Shelter. All the funds raised will go towards work carried out by the North East Offices of Shelter, which means all of your donations will directly support those in need in the community around you.

Last year, Shelter provided information, support and advice to millions of people facing homelessness or experiencing housing issues. And they won’t stop until there’s a safe, secure and affordable home for everyone.

We are committed to making yoga accessible for everyone.

In each class at the YogaTherapies Studio we make 5 spaces available for anyone who would otherwise struggle to attend for financial reason. There are no specific requirements, or qualifiers for the places. We ask that for each space given, the attendee donate a monthly amount that is affordable and proportionate to their attendance in order to continue growing this scheme.
