Thai Yoga Massage Level 3.a

I am excited to announce that myself and Chris Jackson are collaborating to create and teach this new Advanced Diploma of 8 days duration at the Yoga Therapies studio in Newcastle. This new FHT accredited Diploma is split into 2 modules.

Part 1: covers Body Assesment and Correction and then develops into Dynamic Thai massage for the lower body. The dates for part 1 are Sept 25th / 28th

Part 2: covers Abdominal massage and Dynamic Thai massage for the Upper body on Nov 27th / 30th. Although people are welcome to join only one of the two modules the accredited qualification can only be awarded to those who complete both parts 1 and 2.

The Advanced Therapeutic Diploma is a fusion of Osteopathy and Dynamic Thai Yoga Massage, acting as a bridge between the Old and New, between the East and West, where the best parts of 2 great Holistic systems are brought together to create something very unique and possibly even more effective. In this course the meditative, intuitive and feeling based approach of traditional Thai Yoga massage is merged with the more precise anatomical approach of Osteopathic practice. The goal here is to produce the best framework possible at this moment in time to guide self-motivated therapists to their highest capacity as conscious, compassionate and skillful body workers

What you will learn

  • 5 Thai Yoga Massage sequences
  • Simple Muscle Testing techniques

  • Thai Yoga Therapy for specific conditions

You will also be supplied with Thai Yoga Mats to practice and a detailed 50 page colour brochure

The approach here will be to help each student come to a greater understanding of their body through a direct and guided experience in Yoga Asana, with an intention to enable them to transfer this knowledge into their own yoga, massage and teaching practices.

Dynamic Thai Yoga Massage: This part of the programme combines the art of Thai Yoga Massage with Dynamic Osteopathic techniques. The physical goal of this approach is to improve joint mobility, restore vitality and correcting imbalances in the bodies muscular/skeletal systems and myo-fascial trains. Press the Ground Away and Fly

Yoga arm balances are for every level and every'body'

Many often think that arm balances are reserved for the advanced practitioners. This is not the case. Crow pose was one of the first poses I actually got, simply because as a novice and complete beginner to yoga it never occurred to me that I couldn't do it. So many of our physical limitations are in our head.

For this workshop try to be present in your body and forget about what you think you can and can not do.

Even if you don't fly today, you may do tomorrow or in the future and you would have had a great ab, arm and shoulder workout to boot.

Come and join the fun, you may surprise yourself!

The YogaMatters North East Yoga Mala

To mark the International Day of Peace in conjunction with the Global Mala Initiative inspired by Shiva Rea, Yogamatters is inviting you to its first Yoga Mala - and it’s here in the North East!

The Yogamatters North East Yoga Mala will take place on Saturday 23rd September from 10am-1pm at Gateshead International Stadium.

The event will open with a collective chant, followed by a guided meditation that will continue into a moving meditation of 108 sun salutations. Four local yoga teachers are each leading a set of 27 sun salutations, with alternatives at every stage for students of all abilities. There will be time to relax in savasana and celebrate your achievement (with a small gift from Yogamatters!) before heading home.

As one of the largest yoga events in the region, the Yogamatters North East Yoga Mala will bring 200 yoga teachers and students from across the North East together in a collective act of yoga, meditation and service.

We would love to see you, your students and your fellow yogis there.

Deeper into the Stretch - With Manos.

BACK TO THE STRETCH

School's back - are we ready for the new routine? How do we future proof our bodies to make sure we're functioning in the very best way we can?

We'll be exploring the structure of your stretch programme. It's easy to think more is better (#yogaeverydamnday??), but how much is too much and what's the minimum effective dose?

How do we work with injury prevention rather than trying to fix ourselves when we've over done it?

How are you tailoring the repetitions or the intensity of a movement for YOUR body?

You'll come away with effective strategies to get better results from your stretching, and if you're anything like my typical students you'll come away feeling deeply relaxed and blissed out, having taken the time to go deep into your own body and iron out some crinkles.

Look forward to seeing you on the mat!

PS - if you would like to bring children/ teenagers please let me know and I'd love to work with you to find a way to accommodate them.
